This vintage wooden coconut scraper is from the Southern state of Chettiinad and more than 75 to 80 years old, beautifully carved with floral motifs from a single block of wood representing the rich cultural heritage of a bygone era.
The scraper has two main aspects - A wooden seating arrangement, with one side ending as a bowl scooped out of the same wood and secondly the pedestal for the raised platform called Peetha in Sanskrit to which an iron rod in the shape of a serpent with raised hood is attached.
